The works comprised of a ‘soft strip’ to the ground and first floor library spaces, various elements of demolition and alterations to the structure, then new partitions and ceilings, electrical and mechanical works, new WC IPS units, new internal doors, bespoke joinery and fitted furniture. Wall and floor finishes, office fixtures, fittings and equipment completed a project we are rightly proud of. Much of the works seen in the pictures was carried out within a live campus, with students and staff working in adjacent rooms and corridors.
Almost at completion, the client added a substantial variation and we were asked to carry out the replacement of the entire flat roof coverings of both the Cadman and Blackstone buildings. This brought its own challenges with the works taking place through the winter months, where the specified products could not be used in wet weather, or low temperatures and brought with it delays to our completion.
Upon completion the project was well received by the client and their team, and feedback has all been positive. Sandycroft Projects are to be included in future tender lists for further works at the university.
